Thin Computing in the Industrial Environment
Join us on November 13, 2018 as we learn from Martin Gillanders of EESCO who will discuss Evaluating the benefits and hurdles of a thin computing architecture on the plant floor and how this augments the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).
The presentation will give a basic overview of thin computing and its current applications in the IT world. It will then move into the hurdles faced when attempting to apply similar concepts in the industrial arena, and how the innovative solutions and incorporation of existing best practices in the networking space permit the implementation of thin computing solutions. This presentation will wrap up with a summary of best practices when migrating from existing into thin computing architectures.
Martin Gillanders has been working in the Industrial Automation industry for 5 years. Martin launched his career at System Technology Inc., implementing conveyor systems and integrating custom and third-party machinery into fully automated lines. In 2016, Martin entered the electrical distribution market at EESCO while maintaining a focus on automation systems and industrial networks. Today, he focuses on the continuous improvement of automation systems and the implementation of best practices when navigating the world of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). Martin Gillanders is a 2014 graduate of Purdue University with a BS in Mechatronics Engineering and a current Masters student in the Mechatronics Engineering and Engineering Leadership and Management fields.
