Message from the President

As president of the ISA Will-DuPage Section, each year I am asked to write a letter to our members discussing a topic of my choice.  When selecting a topic I usually attempt to focus on one of the positive aspects of our section, its members, or other items which impact our professional lives.  This year I have elected to use this message to honor our friend and colleague Eddie Meyers and the impact he had on the ISA Will-DuPage Section.

As many of you know Eddie passed away unexpectedly last June.  Having known him for more than 10 years, I was unaware of the impact he had on so many people’s lives.  In addition to his duties as Education Chair with the ISA Will-DuPage Section, he also served as the District 6 Vice-President, District 6 Student Competition Coordinator, and Adjunct Instructor to Joliet Junior College’s Process Control Instrumentation Technology program.  Since his death, I continue to be reminded of what he meant to our ISA community.  As many of us on the board of directors have stepped up to try to continue where Eddie left off, we are finding out more about the many activities he was involved in and how difficult it is to resume the activities of someone with such a far reaching influence in areas such as fund raising and education.

Though Eddie is no longer with us, his impact is still being felt today in the many people he inspired throughout his career as an instrumentation professional and ISA volunteer.  Through programs like the Joliet Junior College’s ISA Chicago/Will-DuPage Section Edward Meyers Scholarship I am confident Eddie will continue to impact the lives of future instrumentation professionals for many years to come.

If you would like to donate to the Joliet Junior College’s ISA Edward Meyers Scholarship, you can find more information at www.isawilldupage.org.

Thank you for your continued support of the ISA Will-DuPage Section.  If you have any comments or questions regarding the ISA Will-DuPage Section, please do not hesitate to contact me.  I can be reached at president@isawilldupage.org or via our website www.iswilldupage.org.

I hope to see you at the next meeting.

Regards,

David C. Riojas
