Join us in May as we learn from Bruce Billedeaux – Maverick Technologies who will discuss the increasing concern about cyber security in the industrial control environment. Implementing cyber security program can be more than an additional non-value compliance activity, it can be used to improve overall operations while reducing risk.

All modern process plants have many programs and activities that are not core to the production process which are never the less very important to the profitability of the company. These activities may include environmental management, physical security and worker safety. The time and effort to maintain these programs effectively is considerable, and the value, while substantial, is hard to objectively measure.

Cyber security should be viewed in the same light. A well-executed cyber security program will not only reduce risk but also add to the overall control system reliability and profitability.

We will discuss how existing programs can be leveraged to help meet some of the requirements and recommendations in ISA-62443 and explain that an effective cyber security program is less about technology than procedure and design.

Bruce Billedeaux is a Senior Consultant for Maverick Technologies. His design focus is on process optimization and wireless infrastructure. He is part of Maverick’s Operational Consulting (OPCON) cybersecurity team. He is a licensed professional engineer, retired Coast Guard Reserve Officer, and holds a BA of Economics from California State University, Fullerton.
